Our beloved country is going through one of the toughest times since independence. Most business concerns today are not smiling. Corporate, family and individual reserves are fast being depleted while very little or nothing is coming back in return. Barely one week ago, our honorable Finance Minister, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, reported in one of the dailies that we are, technically, in recession. This is not the change we are looking for, is it? Economic experts from within and outside our country are not giving any hope either – both for now and the nearest future to come. We are told, over and again, to brace up for hard times. What is the hope for the average man on our streets today? In Job chapter 5 verse 22, God offers some encouragement. “At destruction and famine, thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.” Our focus today is laughter. The opposite is keeping a straight or frowning face. To frown looks like the most natural response to the scourge eating men and women, businesses and investments plus many more in our land. Yet, God’s infallible Word, holds in this times the promise of laughter. I believe the reason you will laugh is because whatever eats others will exempt you. Whatever makes their lives, homes and concerns go under and miserable will leave you alone. You carry the mark of “touch not, harm not, trouble not.” “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.” Psalms 91:7. You are exempted! Laughter is a very natural expression when something good has happened. For decades, Sarah did not know what it meant to laugh. I’m not sure the society, then, spared her – in public ridicule and mockery. Instead of laughter, she probably groaned and mourned. Following one visitation from on High, however, her story changed forever; a barren woman was turned to a joyful mother. She was 90 at the time! “And she said God hath made me to laugh; so that all that hear will laugh with me.” Genesis 21:6. You are not as old as she was, are you? Sarah’s experience became the catalyst for other people’s laughter. I see the Lord using the subject of your laughter as a trigger to other people’s testimonies in the name of Jesus! Get it straight – you are programmed for extraordinary laughter and joy. Yes, you! No more shits. No more delay. Your days of humiliation are over. If God promised it, He’s committed to make it happen. “The Strength of Israel will not lie.” – 1Samuel 15:29. Dare to believe the promise. God bless you!
